• Say "Good morning" to a person standing next to you in the elevator.
  • Take a minute to direct someone who is lost, even though you're rushing.
  • Write a letter to a child who could use some extra attention. Kids love getting mail.
  • Give a homeless person your doggie bag.
  • Say "I love you" to someone you love.
  • Out of the blue, send flowers to a friend.
  • Say "please" and "thank you"—and really mean it.
  • When you're on a crowded train or bus, offer your seat to an elderly, disabled or pregnant person.
  • Don't interrupt when someone is explaining herself.
  • Let a fellow driver merge into your lane.
  • Put your shopping cart back in its place.
  • Call or write to a teacher who changed your life.
  • Bring a box of doughnuts to share at the office.
  • Forgive someone a debt–and never bring it up again.
  • Listen with all your senses.
  • Write a note to the boss of someone who helps you, and explain how great a job that person is doing.
  • Simply say "I'm sorry" when you're wrong.
  • Encourage someone who seems despondent.
  • Ask someone "How are you really doing?"—and then really listen to her response.
  • Offer change when the person in front of you at the register comes up short.
  • Leave a generous tip for a pleasant waiter.
  • Pass along a great book you've just finished reading.
  • Buy a board game for a local children's hospital.
  • Buy lunch for a homeless person.
  • Smile when you make eye contact with someone.
  • Hold the door open for the person behind you.
  • Compliment a stranger’s appearance. Flatter them.
  • Connect like minds. Introduce two friends or colleagues who you feel have something to gain from each other.
  • Be a courteous driver. Let people merge in front of you.
  • Live each moment with enthusiasm.
  • Eliminate the words ‘hate,’ ‘can’t,’ and ‘won’t’ from your vocabulary.
  • Notice and appreciate the positive side of things and share this appreciation with others.
  • Share your talents with someone.
  • Forgive someone.
  • Think, speak and act in a loving manner.
  • Introduce yourself. Make new colleagues, classmates, etc. feel welcome.
  • Appreciate people the way they are.
  • Check up on someone who looks lonely.
  • On a hot day, buy someone something cold to drink. On a cold day, get them something warm.
  • Wave to a kid in the car next to you.
  • Repeat something nice you heard about someone else.
  • Listen intently to people’s stories without trying to fix everything.
  • Call a stranger’s attention to a beautiful sunset or full moon.
  • Dance with someone who hasn't been asked.
  • Give words of encouragement toward someone’s dream, no matter how big or small it is.
  • Give without expecting to get back.
  • Boost the morale of someone close to you by telling them what you love about them.
  • Hug a friend. Let them know how important they are.
  • Leave an encouraging or positive comment on a stranger’s blog.
  • If there’s been an accident or a potentially hazardous situation presents itself on the road, report it to the local authorities. Your phone call could save a life.
  • If someone you love really likes something (a meal, a favor, etc.) give it to them when they least expect it.
  • Let go of anger. For instance, if somebody accidentally cuts you off in traffic, just let it go.
  • Believe in yourself with all of your heart. The universe will notice.
  • Treat every small interaction with another person as an opportunity to make a positive impact in both your lives.
  • Teach others how to make a difference by setting an example.

  • Stand up for someone. Lend your voice. Often the powerless, the homeless, the neglected in our world need someone to speak up for them.
