tripleS finally come together with their full lineup to release assemble24 as their official debut, despite modhaus previously confirming ASSEMBLE (2023) as their debut. unfortunately, these girls debut was 100% very rushed and it's evident from how sohyun said she only began working on the track White Soul Sneakers, which she participated in composing and arranging as well as fully writing alone, in april. to me, this reflects in the music. we all know that tripleS title tracks are known for their signature "lalalala" and, though it works, i, personally, am starting to get quite tired of it.. it's the same "lalalala" every release and it feels quite uninspired at this point. still, Girls Never Die, the title track, which is full of "lalalala"'s, is pretty good and a good introduction to the group. moving onto the the bside tracks, a lot of them are forgettable and don't bring anything new to the game, you can give these tracks to IVE and they still would "work" because they lack identity. it was only when i hit the 6th track of the album, Chiyu, that i found a bside i enjoyed and it's no coincidence that this track had a 'tripleS element' to it. Chiyu reminds me of Charla off the first album ever released under the tripleS name, ACCESS (2022), and Charla remains to this day to be my favorite bside track by the group so obviously i enjoyed Chiyu a lot; a hip-hop inspired r&b track, what's not to like? Non Scale is a fun little upbeat track that, despite being enjoyable, proves my point on tripleS bsides sometimes lacking identity as the song was publicly a contender to be released by ARTMS as a single. it ended up not being voted to release by ARTMS fans so modhaus just decided to toss it away to tripleS.. seriously, there's no individuality between the two groups and this isn't even the first time they have passed songs around each other (and i doubt it will be the last). yes, this is sometimes done behind the scenes with other groups but it is kept private and is not a common occurrence. even the album-closing track, Dimension, is simply a basic new jack swing kpop song that could be handed to another group. both of these songs i liked (which i can't say about 5 other bsides on this project) but there's nothing about them that made them distinctly tripleS which is an issue i hope to see fixed soon because modhaus now has a new group, ARTMS, to deal with and fusing merging them to each other will NOT work at all. tripleS need to bring something original with their music so it can be claimed that their discography has more than a handful of songs for me to go back to.
