maybe i'm just not listening to the same album as you guys?

brat is my introduction to the iconic charli xcx. outside of fancy with iggy azalea, unlock it, and, obviously, boom clap, i have never heard any of her works. seeing all my mutuals hyping this album up alongside the rest of the internet and almost every single music critic, i had high expectations for this album to be incredible and absolutely life changing. that's completely my fault but after listening to the project i can't seem to understand the blinding lime green hype. brat is not a bad album by any means, but it felt just stale and boring to me at times. the only way i can seem to put it is that she does cool things then drives them into the ground without ever switching it up; the autotune effect was cool until she did it on every song, the stuttering effect was cool until she did it on every song, the repetition was cool until she did it on every song, etc. it felt very.. artificial? and just overdone. there was nothing crazy or mind blowing going on anywhere and it disappointed me a bit. i can't even claim there is any "bad" track, there are just a good amount of snoozers yk..

also special shout out to the von dutch remix with addison rae and ag cooks cause that version is like 100x better than the original von dutch it's crazy
