ANOTHER 06 ALBUM! released just 10 days before my birth, i saw post-hardcore, and the album cover looked cool so i gave a listen.
i feel sort of like ive uncovered a gem here. Planes Mistaken For Stars is a band that came out of the second wave of emo which was the the mid 90s-early 2000s. they've gone through many labels and members, like many bands of the same nature, and were named one of the "heaviest" bands of the 00s "post-hardcore underground." listening to Mercy, you can really hear the influences of earlier classic rock and heavy metal. the vocals are very gritty in a unique way and the instrumentation is rough yet melodic. it sounds to me like they mixed many genres and took influences from many bands as i don't think i can confidently say they are fully post-hardcore or emo or stoner metal like listed. i am really pleasantly surprised by this listen as i was expecting something a little bit more chill but this album brought an incredible blend of hardcore and emo spirit.
