user picture carina maree: I feel in love with the novel Atonement, so I had high expectations for the movie. It wasn't all entirely correct but still so enchanting. I really wish to see Tess and ballet shoes too! Bright star and never let me go are also poignant, but sad (I seem to be fatally attracted to tragic tales) dec 13 2011
user picture Josephine: Oh, dear, I found "Ballet Shoes" absolutely awful and a bad representation of the book. First, character depiction - I thought Posie was the only one that was well-cast (she was precious, maybe too old for the actual Posie but they grew so much during the book), but Petrova was rather plump, tan-skinned and with prominent features, unlike the gaunt and sickly-looking Petrova from the book. I hated Emma Watson as Pauline, but I dislike Emma Watson in general - but really, she wasn't Pauline, and she acted as that blend between Hermione and herself that one can't tell anymore. And Pauline was angelical, fair-featured, and Emma has features that are only her own. And as for the movie itself, the setting and outfits were beautiful, but they modified the plot too much - the book is rather long, it goes over their whole childhood, but still, they missed important things. The book has so much magic on its own! And oh, me too, me too, and I have enough sadness on my own.
user picture carina maree: I'm so glad you told me this, as I couldn't find the Ballet Shoes anywhere, I was contemplating purchasing it...maybe I wont now. Movies can never replace books :) dec 14 2011
user picture sleeping fawn: Never Let Me Go is by far one of my favorite movies. I'm dissapointed that I didn't read the book first. It's absolutely heart-breakingly lovely. C: feb 25 2012
