This will be a very cheezy list.
- The Elephant Parade Scene from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
- It's the soundtracking that has a lot to do with why I love this scene. Jon Brion's score in Eternal Sunshine just gets me every time, sending my heart into back-flips from the second the orange and blue Focus Films logo fills the screen, accompanied by a few lonesome piano chords and it never lets up. This scene is one of my favorites–Even though it's only 26 seconds long, "Elephant Parade" is an exquisite song, and when paired with the vision Joel and Clementine standing on a crowded, sparkly city street watching a parade of firecrackers and elephants go by while Mary's voice floats dreamily through the background, reciting the verse from the Alexander Pope poem from which the movie gets its name, makes me melt every time.
- Richie and Margot's Reunion in The Royal Tenenbaums
- One of the most wonderfully soundtracked scenes ever. There are no words to how perfect it is when Margot steps off the Greyhound bus, locks eyes with Richie, and everything slows down and Nico's "These Days" starts to play.
- The Closing Scene of Wristcutters: A Love Story
- Even though a heavy feeling of smothering apathy and melancholy permeates through the entire movie, you never realize just how strong that feeling is until the movie's end, which closes on the first real, genuine smile seen throughout the whole movie. It's like a weight coming off your shoulders and you can't help but feel so relieved and bittersweet.
- The Closing Scene of Brothers Of The Head
- Very tragic. This movie is so well-acted and realistically done that you can't help getting attached to the characters and feel absolutely heartbroken by the film's cathartic end.
- Basically the Entirety of the Last Half of Titanic.
- Between the all the calamity, the unjust treatment of the lowerclass, and the final goodbye of Jack and Rose, it's pretty hard to keep a dry during that final half.
- Steve Zissou Finally Meets The Mythic Jaguar Shark in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.
- Another exquisitely-soundtracked scene...Wes Anderson seems to have a knack for that. I've never been much of a Sigur Ros fan, but the pairing of their song "Starlalfur" with that climactic scene gives me chills every time.
