- Narrow it down, but not too far.
- Thesis
- This is when you get specific.
- State exactly what your essay will be about and how you're going to prove it.
- Signposting
- Give the reader a preview of your essay.
- Outline what your major paragraphs/ideas are and how they're helping to prove your thesis.
