- They began to build the altar of the God of Israel where they could offer burnt offerings...even though they were afraid...then to obey...they celebrated...there were special offerings brought as gifts to the Lord...they gave...they all took their places and praised the Lord...with praise and tahanksgiving, they sang to the Lord: He is good, his love for Israel continues forever. And then all the people shouted loudly, Praise the Lord!...they cried when they saw the foundation of this temple. Most of the other people were shouting with joy. The people made so much noise it could be heard from far away, and no one could tell the difference between the joyful shouting and the sad crying. Then the people around hem tried to discourage them by making them afraid to build. They wrote a letter against the people of Judah and Jerusalem...so work on the temple of God in Jerusalem stopped. Ezra 3
- Lord, you are a God who shows mercy and is kind...you have great love and faithfulness...Give me strength...show me a sign of our goodness...You, Lord, have helped me and comforted me. PS 86:14-17
