I have an obsession with Field Notes brand pocket notebooks. Make fun if you will, but there are many vices worse than this. Any way, they release a special themed edition every quarter. These have become very collectable, especially the earlier editions. In each edition, on the back-inside cover, is a collection of 30 "practical applications" of use for the notebook. Some are serious, some are smarmy, and some are just really off the wall. This is a perfect example of the draw to these little notebooks have. It's a glimpse of the detail and the sense of humor they bring throughout everything they produce. This will be the first of many (hopefully) lists of practical applications found in the special edition note books that I have in my collection starting with the oldest and moving toward current day. Spring 2010 Quarterly Edition - Packet of Sunshine

This edition came in an old school interoffice mail envelope, the kind that you closed it up by wrapping a string around close point on the flap. The fact that I remember those reminds me that I am OLD. These three "lemon drop" yellow notebooks even came with a packet of Marigold seeds and planting instructions to get you in the springtime mood.
