Systems Ive Owned And My Faves For Each.
- Generic Pong Game ★ Came with gun, shoot the giant floating square. Duck Hunt this ain't.
- Squash: Loved the play the solo ❝Squash” game. Good Times.
- Atari 2600 ★ The system that started it all. Most people have no clue, the challenge that programmers had, getting a game out of its minuscule memory. If you have ANY interest in Video Game history read Racing The Beam, by Nick Montfort.
- Space Invaders: The first licensed port of an arcade game. Is a great memory from my favorite Christmas.
- Adventure: The first video game to use multiple screens to show a continuous area. Also famous for programmer Warren Robinett's initial's being the first Video Game ❝easter egg”.
- Intellivision ★ Known for their realistic sports games and unique controller, Intellivision was a power house. MLB Baseball was the first home game to speak. YERRRRR OUT..
- Major League Baseball Still to this day, one of the best sports games on any system. Intellivisions controller made all sort of subtle skills possible. A truly great game.
- Astrosmash A great, frantic arcade shooter that does'nt get enough credit. Most brushed it off as a Space Invaders wanna-be. Sucks to be them.
- Space Battle GREAT mix of strategy and raw shoot-em up. Use the overview map to direct your troops. The little triangles inching toward your home planet always filled me with a feeling of dread. I couldn't kill em fast enough. In deference to my Beloved Atari 800, I think this was Star Raiders before Star Raiders.
- Nintendo Entertainment System ★ I'm torn with this system. Anyone who knows anything about the industry knows that its single handedly responsible for saving the industry. That miniscule dot in the NES' rearview mirror was unfortunately Atari. Still, I gotta admit, a great, groundbreaking system.
- Super Mario Bros. Defined a genre. Created, then perfected the platformer. Almost a perfect game. Pure genius.
- RC Pro AM A great pick up and play, interesting power up system.
- Legend Of Zelda Wow this is an original list huh? I can't help it, early on in the systems life, it had ALMOST 2 perfect genre defining games and these two cannot be left off ANY Best Of list concerning the NES. Period. If i hadn't grown up in the Atari days, I would say this would have been the Golden Age.
- Turbo Grafx 16 ★ The Turbo Grafx did much better in Japan (where it was called the PC Engine). It retailed at 199.00 if I recall correctly. Prolly the coolest thing about it was the "cartridges. They were a little be smaller than a credit card. HU Card. I enjoyed it and ended up selling it and some games in a garage sale to an old lady for 100 bucks. Shut up, she wanted it for her grandson!!!
- Legendary Axe Great fantasy 2d sidescroller. One of the few games in my whole career that I actually finished (or "beat" as you young whipper-snappers say)
