  • struggle to stand-up for themselves --> fear of being disliked or labeled as something
  • speak to themselves very disparagingly --> tend to have a very verbally inner abusive voice
  • assume others are thinking poorly of them --> because a very critical parenting, as our parents were our first model how the world works, will make us assume that everyone else is thinking very critical of us
  • compare themselves to others --> when you have low self-esteem often your psychological habits are geared towards improving your self-esteem and not self-compassion.
