Because I've been reading them for a whole decade, even though we'll never know if any of that was actually fiction or real life.

WARNING: This list contains RPF and AU pieces.

It might contain crossovers, since there was a point where fanfiction.net was deleting RPF stories (eons ago, folks) and writers had to use Camp Rock and Wizards of Waverly Place characters as their main basis. Lots of good Alex/Mitchie stuff, though, powers and everything. And Princess Protection Program, because duuuh.

If you've been in the fandom for as long as I have, you'll notice that some of the main pieces are missing (i.e. "Coping With Clarity", "The Cure and the Cause", "Two Worlds" - this one written in 20-and-fucking-08, people!). I tried my best to look for active links, but these have been either deleted, or their livejournal accounts where they were originally posted have been purged.

Speaking of livejournal: pieces that were exclusively posted to the demi_selena community are not included in this list. Membership is required in order to read those. You can join if you're interested, that place is pretty much dead anyway (like Lovez, oh well) but there's a long archive of good writing over there.

While I'm not a huge fan of smut per se, I will be adding some of my personal favorites here as well. Kinks, spanking, strap-ons, toys and cuffs, threesomes (trust me, there was a David Henrie one), genderswap and things like that are usually poorly written, but some of those were worth reading.

Oneshots and multichaptered ones are mixed, because I'm lazy as fuck.

BEFORE THAT: I've made a Spotify playlist with songs taken from these pieces below. And some songs that remind me of them. Enjoy.

To the list we go. Not in any especific order... okay, WHO AM I KIDDING? Here's a superb top 3, with brief descriptions:

  • Dismiss Your Fears, RPF, 2012. In which the author tells an almost accurate version of the facts. Tons of angst. Lots of crying. You might want to punch the shit out of walls after some chapters. Or punch Demi, for that matter.
  • Come Close, Listen to the Story, RPF, 2009. In which Selena's confused about everything, Demi's falling apart and Miley and Taylor have to give them a little push. Can't spoil it more than I already have. Brilliant, detailed writing that perfectly captures the essence of said characters.
  • To Touch the Stars, Wizards of Waverly Place/Camp Rock crossover, AU, 2009. In which a rebellious Alex lives in a strict religious community and things change when Mitchie comes along. Very emotional moments all through the chapters. Great literature and Bible references, and to top it all, this one makes you actually feel what they're feeling. Good or bad.
