Last year I was self-employed as a freelance editor, mainly working with online business owners/bloggers on a variety of content types. This year my health has deteriorated to the point where I can no longer work even the limited amount I was able to before. I've run out of money to keep paying my bills, so until either my health improves dramatically & I can start working again, or my SSI appeal is approved, I'm taking fic editing commissions to try to cover my bills each month.

Fic Editing Prices

• Proofreading (5k minimum)
  • $2 per 1,000 words
• Light Edit (3k minimum)
  • $3 per 1,000 words up to 20k
  • $2.50 per 1,000 words over 20k
• Heavy Edit (10k minimum)
  • $5 per 1,000 words up to 20k
  • $3.50 per 1,000 words over 20k, up to 50k
  • Custom quote for works over 50k

Fic Editing Types

• Proofreading
  • check for spelling, grammar, punctuation, & formatting
  • no rewording (except grammar)
• Light Edit
  • everything included in proofreading
  • some rewording for clarity or to avoid awkward text
• Heavy Edit
  • everything included in proofreading & light edit
  • rewording suggestions throughout text
  • suggestions on changes to overall structure, plotting, etc.
  • specialized focus requests (POV, dialogue, etc.) available

Fic Editing General Info

• No preset restrictions on fandoms, pairings, or subject matter, however, I reserve the right to refuse work on a case-by-case basis.
• Editing also available for original fiction. Note that for-profit works will require a custom quote.
• You can bundle multiple fics together to meet minimum word count for proofreading & light edit. Heavy edit minimum is for a single fic.
• Turn around time estimated on a case-by-case basis. Generally aiming for 24-48 hours on a 10k proofread.
• Payment via PayPal.
  • Full payment upfront for proofreading & light edits under 10k due to PP fees.
  • 50% upfront, 50% upon completion for 10k+ proofreading, light, & heavy edits.
• All editing will be done in Google Docs.
