- As a child gardener, I grew house plants from cuttings and also in water and helped my mama with her roses/ herb garden. My mama loved growing plants in pots. She also loved African violets.
- I grew up with respect for the land. My family were farmers for over 300 years in America.
- As I grew older into my teens, plants seemed to follow me home. I have always had a little garden even in my apartment living days.
- My childhood ideal garden was a romantic one... (One that draws me in and makes me forget the world.)The Secret Garden was my number one favorite book. I must have read it ten times as a kid.

- Disapproval from family and friends makes me super anxious. Try to avoid talking about my new projects might help.
- Lack of confidence when family does not like something because it is non-conventional.
- Overthinking how I am going to approach instead of using my instincts and going for it.
- Learn more to do it for myself instead of waiting for approval and speak up.
- Shake up my routine. Go down a different road.
- Figure out what I think is scary and do it.
- Stay away from my "comfort zones" in everything.
- Sketchpads must be in different rooms when an idea hits.
- Take new classes to shake things up
- Spend more time at the beach and at diffe...

- Work within my means and leave a small footprint on the land.
- Avoid water, pesticides and fertilization when possible.
- Don't force wishful thinking onto a piece of ground.
- Time is one of a gardener's greatest allies.
- It is only the continuum of day-to-day work that makes a garden great.
- Plants are the basis of garden artistry. They serve as pieces of the puzzle. They are colors in a palette. They are elements of sculpture.
- The more we find out about plants, the more ways we will find to use them.
- Combining plants in a multitude to ways, based on their habits and moods, how they live and how they die, gives the garden successive layers of interest that extend into every month of the year.
