• * Think more about how to get privacy in my garden. Need to start planting hedges and tree screens for borders.
  • *Figure out how to make the garden look older and more established.
  • *First Plant gardens that are closest to the house and in the areas I can see most often. It's better to be able to view the flowers from inside the home as well.
  • *Create bigger or new areas in garden: Nursery area; Vegetable garden and borders; Jewel Box Garden (By Front Door) Rock Garden, Rose pillar bed; Rose garden; South border; Hillside; Winter garden; Ruin Pine garden; Entry Garden; North Border; Driveway Gravel Garden; Roadside Bed
  • *Develop a Plant diary/journal with loads of photos of different beds in different seasons.
  • *Plan a signature color (White) and a signature shape (Vertical). Plan borders so they have more than one peak and avoid planning a garden in which everything bloomed at once. Stretch out the season as long as I can and the shape of plants is more important than the color of flowers.
  • *Make a Garden plan for each area. Makes vague ideas more concrete. Aim for a Loose, Natural Southern Californian Garden that is Mediterranean, Bird-Friendly and Drought Tolerant.
  • *Repeat colors when I made garden designs of my borders to unite them. Spring-White and Pastels. Summer-Hotter colors-Acid Yellow, Purple ,Red and Orange Fall-Creamy yellow, Apricot and Burgundy.
  • *Make Color combinations at all levels of the Garden.
  • *Schedule certain set hours during the week for the constant grooming and weeding.
  • *Plant exciting combinations of plants to grow and intertwine with each other.
  • *The gravel garden gets new gravel every 3 to 4 years and the gravel matches the stone walls. The gravel paths can fit two people walking side by side.
  • *Terra Cotta Container plants are redone once a year. Front urns are dressed for the seasons.
  • * Pea gravel is replaced every 3 to 4 years in to rock garden boarders.
  • *Place wood (Not plastic) tables and chairs around the different areas for outside dining.
