Unfortunately, this will be an ongoing list.

• Same sex marriage is NOT going to somehow ruin the "sanctity of marriage". Marriage is a loving commitment to another person, and some people love other people of the same sex. So let's let them celebrate that and reap the same benefits as straight couples.
• The ideals that the media portrays for women. They're unrealistic and disgusting. Women come in all different shapes, sizes and colors and they're all unique and beautiful in their own way. (I could go on about this one all day, but we'll leave it here..)
• Many Americans, for whatever reason, have a hard time taking pages out of other country's books. Like healthcare, for example. Europe and Canada have single-payer healthcare that is funded by the government, and it seems to be working pretty well for them. In America, to birth a child naturally with no insurance costs anywhere from $9,000 to $17,000 (this is not including any prenatal care or any doctor's visits post-delivery); while in Canada and European countries with a single-payer system, everything would be included and services would be performed at no cost to the patient. Amazing how that works.
• All the people who shouted "Support the President" 4 years ago, despite the fact that Bush II was running the country into the ground. And now that we have a president who is actually attempting to do anything progressive, he must be a Muslim terrorist/socialist/fascist. This wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that he's black, would it? Of course it would. Because some Americans are always going to use race to determine people's intentions (and somehow, this always ends badly for the side being judged). Mexican people are going to steal your jobs, black people are going to steal your TV, and Italians are going to have reality shows in Jersey. I guess it's as easy as pulling that bumper sticker off the back of your car to change your ideals.
• Another note on the last one. Socialism and Fascism are not the same thing! So put down your signs depicting Obama with a Hitler 'stache, stating he's a socialist, because you're an idiot. Here's some definitions via www.dictionary.com:
  • Socialism: a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
  • Fascism: a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.

So you see, they're kind of opposites.
