• You've survived the night, but the city lies in ruin. Ashes drift through smouldering wreckage and sunken masts line the harbor like a grim forest edge. Organic ickwebs have condensed and hardened, and some can be chipped away
  • Professor Bessimer is Impressed "on paper you'd never have done well. Put another group in your shoes and 99 times out of 100 I'd never expect them to have braved that storm. You're either suicidal or foolhearty, but you've the makings of a truly great band of adventurers. I see my faith in the guild has not been misplaced"
  • The professor offers to watch over the godspawn and also gives the following quest: Deliver this letter to Aberforth Blackthorn. Last I knew he was seen in westmarsh though he's always been one to get himself into trouble.
  • Apparition of the silver flame: Clarion, ...

A seaside whaling port is beset by Kua Toa- fish people from deep beneath the waves who rise to the surface and begin to lay large clutches of eggs in an effort to awaken a new elder god

PRIOR TO THE PLAYER'S ARRIVAL

  • Smugglers operating out of the port town begin to experiment with blasting new tunnels- strange artifacts are uncovered from a hidden cave pocket as a result
  • Soon after an earthquake is felt in and around the surrounding area followed by several other small tremors in the days after
  • Within days smugglers begin to notice strange noises in their tunnels and several go missing causing paranoia and unrest among the others
  • Regular townsfolk begin to see strange etherial lights in the bay and harbor and strange shadows on the water at night- the...

With a great and final lurch the titanic form of the new god arcs overhead, dwarfing the horizon in a bid to swallow the moon whole and casting the bay into a sea of unearthly shadow. Saint Elmo's Fire flickers about its' head as it raises it's ghastly bulk to the sky and lets out a wild hellish call that echoes into the night and chills you to the bone. You feel a sudden and inescapable end is near as a yawning chasm opens in your mind. You are suddenly frozen to the spot by a deep and primal fear, unable to move. This is the end.

As one, each creature nearby turns in unison and in one unblinking trance they begin to make their way down toward the shoreline. A ghastly hymn fills the air, a mix of warbling gurgle and churning tide. You watch them slip just beneath the surface, grim eyes casting etherial azure glows in the black pool of the bay, all trick...

To complete a check

  • Roll, add proficiency (if apt) and add skill modifier
  • If you meet or beat the DC of the check or AC of the enemy you succeed

(for DC: 10 is easy, 15 is medium, 20 is hard to pass)

  • If you hit something, roll damage dice
  • Short rests let you spend hit dice to roll and regain health- # of hit dice = level
  • Long rests let characters recover all HP and up to half of their total hit dice to be used on short rests

The party should be Level 2- Monsters should individually be CR2 or less

THE WORLD: CORADINE

Starting City: Rosehaven of the Red Sands - party has traveled over the mountains for a week to get to Gravesend

Gravesend

  • A fair sized fishing hamlet- think any given New England whaling port, but maybe just a bit past it's prime
  • Long ago there was trade between the people of the sea and those more common races of the land, but the last tritons disappeared long ago and now the town is mostly inhabited by humans
  • A strange fell wind blows through the streets echoed in the shuttering windows and fleeting downturned gaze of the locals
  • A bizarre slime seems to creep out of every sewer grate and between every cobble- it is persistent and does not burn- the local academics have not yet found the source

The Gogglers have shacked up in a central den with numerous egg clutches Several offshoot dens can be found with similar artifacts (if successfully investigated) or some remains some of which can be identified if players talk to enough townsfolk

The First Night

  • The first night at the town if they roll well or explore the docks, players may see shadows moving on the docks after dark or streams of bubbles out in the water
  • There is a small quake in the early hours of the morning
  • If players wake up to this, they have a chance to find a tunnel entrance in their room in the inn- they can find a path down to the sewers though only vague sounds and far off shadows can be found

The Second Day

  • Players go to visit the professor who let...

Thistle of the league of adventurers has called you to her office to discuss the recent goings-on. Since your stint in the desert top mages have been hard at work deciphering the import of the emerald you recovered, though it has led to some... disquiet among many of the upper brass. Your ability to succeed as the loner party has also not exactly earned you the accolades of your fellow guild mates.

Having shown them up thoroughly and since there is not much else that can be done with the object you retrieved you are being sent out on a special assignment. You are to accompany a top scholar on a trip to retrieve a mysterious object from a patron of the guild. He lives in far off Huxley by the sea- a quaint yet distant fishing port of some repute. Your mission is to protect guild assets as it's scholar goes to observe and if need be retrieve the artifact for further study based on th...

Xanthe Brimthistle

  • A Halfling diviner
  • Rarely wrong about anything and won't admit when she is
  • Often does small things to push others out of the realm of harm, though she mostly keeps her face buried in her many tomes
  • Will not help the party fight anything though will investigate mysteries and stumb...
