[...] I know a lot of people really dislike “otherkin” being an umbrella term and want something else, so a while back I wrote up this little idea. Please note to take it with a grain of salt and, if you don’t like it, please feel free not to consider yourself part of it. This is simply a suggestion based on common complaints I have seen in various communities - it is in no way absolutely flawless. In general, do what makes you comfortable - if this isn’t something that makes you comfortable, don’t feel that you have to use it!

Alter-human/Alternative Humanity Personal Identity “AHPI”

A category of personal identity which encompasses identification that is alternative to the common societal idea of humanity.

• Otherkin: non-physical identity as a non-human creature.

Branches of otherkin:

• Therian: Identifying more specifically as an earthen creature.
• Fictionkin: identifing as a fictional character or creature. They can also be non-Canon or vary from original canon.
• Mythkin: identifying as a mythical creature. Also containing branches such as godkin and angelkin.
• Theriomythic: a person who identifies as a mythical creature but has experiences more like a therian. Such as dragonkin who feel like basically a giant lizard.

This whole paragraph is getting a huge update from 2 years ago, as proof that identities may vary and change over time. And that's okay!

My identity as a red fox has not really changed but the finer details have. I feel the identity itself has become more integral to who I am, without having made a change to how I present it physically. No extra vocalization, or other behaviors though they still exist. I feel I very much am a fox, the origin of which is still kind of a mystery to me. I used to strongly believe I originated in a different universe, but im no longer very confident in that, if I even still believe it at all. No matter the origin, earth or otherwise, I am still a red fox and I used to be one in a past life.
