- batman: year one by franz miller (2007) (completed / ★★★★☆)
- i wasn't digging the book at first, but once i learned to appreciate the writing, the illustration, and how well they combine to fit the overall mood, it became one of my favorite comic books in the batman series. nothing beats the grittier side of batman, but viewing gordon's backstory was refreshing! :)
- the undertaking of lily chen by danica novgorodoff (completed /★★★☆☆)
- i remember distinctly that i wanted to read the book when i saw the art of the two koi fish. then i started to actually read the book, i thought, "what did i get myself into..." i felt that it was a good story with a diverse group of characters. i know a few people who also left reviews of "the undertaking," they were put-off by the art, but now that i think about it, the crudeness of the characters' designs fit the story well. :-)
