a good outfit is subjective, and manners are societal functions. humans assign meaning, status, and credibility to appearance, we’ve begun to treat dressing well as a form of morality, when in actuality, it’s a question of manners. when we look at someone’s outfit as an expression of manners, we’ll find we are judging those manners based on what society says the rules are. outfit ethics. (must wear this, mustn't wear that) you always judge. how much judging are you aware of? judgments keep you safe. every outfit you wear exists inside a goal; within a career, an identity, a social perception. outfits of all strategy and no authenticity. the most effective way of dressing is balancing these two things; dressing as your authentic self but also strategizing for the context the outfit will exist within. how you present yourself is a tool that helps shape how you are perceived and communicates to others your intentions in their presence.
