goal: 28/20. 一 ↻ reread; ♡ favorites

FINISHED

  • ✦✦✦✧✧ the wonderful wizard of oz, l. frank baum.
        • was already familiar with the story, it's not a favorite but i really enjoyed reading it and also loved the original illustrations.
  • ✦✦✧✧✧ turtles all the way down, john green.
        • not the greatest book ever, was very annoyed for most of the reading process and thought the ending was very boring, but i cried more than once for relating to aza and her struggles with ocd so much.
  • ✦✦✦✧✧ the burning maze, rick riordan.
        • i felt like the beginning was slow and very hard to get through, like the previous trials of apollo books, but the ending made up for it 100%. i don't think i'll ever get over a certain character's death...
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ the tyrant's tomb, rick riordan.
        • was hooked from beginning to end, very exciting and emotional! the character development, especially apolo/lester's is 10/10.
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ tower of nero, rick riordan.
        • my favorite from toa's series! the plot was amazing, nico is my whole world and the solangelo content (although never enough) made me extremely happy. also really liked to see a little bit more about the seven + reyna and nico's future lives but at the same time it felt so little and a little rushed... i'll miss them, part of me wanted them all to be together but i understand this made more sense.
  • ✦✦✦✧✧ the crank palace, james dashner.
        • newt is my favorite character ever, and i loved this very much. loved the new characters, but the only thing is i wished there were a little bit more about newt's feelings about his friends and all that.
  • ✦✦✧✧✧ dash & lily's book of dares, rachel cohn & david levithan.
        • i am so completely in love with this plot that i almost didn't mind the style of writing which i normally would really dislike. i would change a lot of things, but the core heartwarming and extremely nerdy christmas love story made it worth it.
  • ✦✦✦✦✦ ♡ radio silence, alice oseman.
        • love love love. i have no words to describe how much the characters and everything that happened touched me, especially aled. gonna keep this in my heart forever.
  • ✦✦✦✧✧ solitaire, alice oseman.
        • so many conflicting feelings about this book i could probably write pages about it. there's just so many things i disliked, but after finishing it i can't say that i hated it.
  • ✦✦✦✧✧ nick and charlie, alice oseman.
        • very short and very cute! besides aled, they're my favorite osemanverse characters.
  • ✦✦✦✦✦ ↻♡ the perks of being a wallflower, stephen chbosky.
        • this was my 4th time rereading this, and it's one of my favorite books for life. just sososo emotional and comforting.
  • ✦✦✦✦✦ ♡ the bell jar, sylvia plath.
        • it was a difficult read because of how deep i felt each page pn my heart. i wish i could give it more than five stars.
  • ✦✦✦✦✦ ♡ i was born for this, alice oseman.
        • i read this in one sitting and regret it so much, bc i just wanted to spend more time with this story and these characters. i can't believe its not an entire series... i loved it way too much.
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ ♡ carrie, stephen king.
        • this may be one of the rare occasions where i love the movies more than the book, but that's just bc it's so hard to compete with that much iconicness. i really enjoyed the book either way, i missed reading king's characteristic writing.
  • ✦✦✦✧✧ all the young dudes, m.k.b.
        • i was never a big harry potter fan, but i loved wolfstar too much to not be convinced by booktok to read it. it's not necessarily a book, but i was more invested in it than many others i read this year and i really liked it.
  • ✦✦✦✦✦ ♡ the secret history, donna tartt.
        • i've never read anything like this and barely have words to describe how wonderstruck i am.
  • ✦✦✦✧✧ she drives me crazy, kelly quindlen.
        • my heart is so warm, this is one of my favorite tropes + sports + sapphic?! amazing.
  • ✦✦✦✦✦ ♡ little women, louisa may alcott.
        • so extremely beautiful. i wish to read it again sometime already.
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ hani and ishu's guide to fake dating, adiba jaigirdar.
        • i was so excited to read this and it did not disappoint! hani and her friends made my heart ache bc i could relate so much to her, and the romance was soooooo so so good.
  • ✦✦✦✦✦ ♡ the moomins and the great flood, tove jansson.
        • i'm just infinitely in love with tove's art and everything moomins just makes me feel happy and warm.
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ i'm thinking of ending things, ian reid.
        • one of the scariest books i've ever read, the suspense was insanely good and i loved the ending twist!
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ dracula, bram stoker.
        • my vampire obsessed 14 year old self is infinitely pleased.
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ conectadas, clara alves.
        • muito mais emocionante do que estava esperando, confesso que chorei mais de uma vez. amei o romance, a ambientação na minha terrinha são paulo, as personagens, tudo!
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ the becoming of noah shaw, michelle hodkin.
        • since the first part noah was the best part of the mara dyer trilogy for me so i devoured this book, and i loved it. michelle hodkin's so good at creating twists and turns to this story, you can't help but be absolutely hooked to every word.
  • ✦✦✦✧✧ the reckoning of noah shaw, michelle hodkin.
        • not as good as the first one and a little bit confusing, but the story keeps getting more interesting - that cliff hanger killed me.
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ my year of rest and relaxation, otessa moshfeg.
        • still not sure if i give it 4/5 or 5/5 stars, but it's so good. i may be in love with otessa.
  • ✦✦✦✦✧ speak, laurie halse anderson.
        • so good. i related to melinda too much.
  • ✦✦✦✦✦ ♡ the enchanted sonata, heather dixon wallwork.
        • this was one of the most magical things i've ever read. i am in love with the story flow, the characters, the ambience, the way music was incorporated... everything!
