Jayce and Cassian meet fairly young at 10 years old, following the events of Jayce and his mother's - Ximena 's - recovery from their hiking incident. After conversating about Cassian's broken arm, and Jayce's cool rock, they find each other at school and remain friends from then on out. Jayce was there when Cassian's brother Briar , died while out on the field as an enforcer, and was there when Cassian renounced the idea of becoming an officer himself.
