- GLASS JAR PROJECT components:
- I have started to collect late 19th century portraits and would like to:
- write short stories/poems about the people. or create back-stories about their lives in general
- obtain glass jars and create miniature worlds that these people would have lived in OR
- things that represent a common theme throughout their lives (i.e. a glass jar filled with battered dolls)
- LOST THINGS
- still trying to wrap my head around exactly what this would entail, but an abstract idea like "things that are lost" always helps get the ol' brain juices flowing. As of right now, these are some ideas on my mind:
- Keys
- collar/ body armor/sheild/mask made of keys
- something involving an intricate sculpture of keys and string tangled throughout a room ((more of an instalation piece))
- Maps/Compasses
- astrological maps used to be used to orient oneself at sea
- large antique maps and lost young children trecking across them
- The Heart
- if the heart was pulled out of one's chest cavity, what would one find?
- sewn heart, tangled threads, bursting at the seams. A heart that seems lost and is looking for someone to hold it
- Victorian-esque portraits with parts of peopled x-rayed showing their jumbled insides ((might involve some words written on the insides of their skin))
- Masks
- I've been wanting to make masks for a while now, but every idea I've had seems to have already been done by somebody else (damn you rebecca horn!)
- but anyway: thinking about creating a series of 365 masks (!!!), multiple identites, schizophrenia, escapism, etc.
- childhood/innocence
- dolls
- semi-grotesque dolls
- dolls that look like they've been loved too much
- dolls that look eeriely realistic
- BRIEF MOMENTS IN PEOPLES' LIVES TURNING INTO PLANTS
- SO FAR COMPLETED:
- one boy sitting in a chair with creepy onion vines
- woman breast feeding with weeds
- other ideas:
- hands touching
- kisses
- tears
- CREEPY CHILDHOOD PORTRAITS
- pretty obvious, but I'd like to do more drawings of Victorian england children looking a bit fucked up
