Concept:
The installation would tune into the frequency that channels the connection between the viewer and the collective unconscious. This would be achieved through visual and auditory elements. Underlying themes in the work would be water, depth and dreaming. With water as a metaphor for the subconscious/collective unconscious, the works would be intuitively based, and rich with layers of sound, texture, color, and 3d and 2d design elements (assemblage, collage, moving images, photography, and painting). The piece would entirely envelope the viewer, guiding them through stages of light and darkness, color and monotone, silence, harmony, and cacophony. The installation would have interactive elements to produce sound and image. Ideally, upon emerging from the work, the viewer will feel as if they have connected with their non-physical origin. A crescendo would be reached, in which a vibrant array of colors, music and textures would be achieved. The process of dreaming with lucidity is a very spiritual and healing practice, because it forges a connection between the conscious and unconscious mind. Awakening in dreams brings awareness to waking life.
Production:
The first stage would be a cleansing and centering stage in which the participants enter an area of darkness and low frequency sounds. Shoes would be removed prior to entering, to incite a perceptual shift in consciousness, a feeling of unity among the participants, and reverence towards the experience. This womb would be created from a black plastic bag (created from the connection of multiple black plastic bags fused with heat (using an iron)and inflated with a fan. The floor would be padded with cushions to give the participants a feeling of comfort.
Upon emerging from the The second stage would emulate a tunnel of trees, which would be represented through mural, with vertical strokes alone, using brush and ink. From the dense area of trees, they would become more spaced out until a clearing would be reached. exploring archytypal imagery and the collective unconscious water forests color vs. monotone flickering lights (candle/firefly luminescence) blacklights with white paint underwater creatures
