- Go to the Altstadt and see the Münster (?)
- Visit nearby cultural sights like Fondation Beyeler and Tinguely Museum
- Walk around the Markplatz and look around marketplace
- Have Rösti in a local restaurant. A traditional restaurant I like is Restaurant zur Harmonie
- Buy some beers, chill out by the Rhine (near Mittlere Brücke) and watch the sunset
- Take a swim in the wonderful rhine river in the core of the oldtown!
- Depending on your clothing preferences you might want to check out the outlet (European headquarter of carhartt, edwin, g-star etc.) right across the border in Friedlingen, Germany. Just in case you like those brands. It's really, really close!
- Spend one day in three countries: Switzerland (Basel of course), Germany (Weil am Rhein/Friedlingen) and France (Huningue) right at one's feet.
- August 1st is Swiss National Day. Parties and fireworks!
- Rhine float -usually in August. The water isn't "warm" but it is well over 16C!
- Summer Festival
- Bird's Eye Jazz Club
- All-Bar-One is where a lot of ex-pats hang out.
