SHS CAMP: Batch Lagablab Unleashes the Future
This year's SHS Camp welcomes the Grade 11 and Grade 12 students with a series of challenging team building activities that can hone their skills in communicating, team-work and socializing skills. SHS Camp this school year has the tagline “Unleash the Future: Ignite, Connect, and Empower” related to this year's theme: "F.U.E.L.", which stands for Fortifying Universal Education Linkages. With this theme in mind, This year's Camp was incorporated with this theme to ensure that not only the school was fortifying linkages but also the students themselves. Other than this, This theme was also the origin of this year's batch name which welcomes the Senior High School students as Batch Lagablab.
Over the years, SHS Camp has been known as a team-building program wherein several groups of Senior High School students combined compete to win. They are challenged with several team-building activities that need teamwork and cooperation of each member for the group to work. Furthermore, it needs communication and socializing for the group to be able to complete a challenge. Within these challenges, the students are able to improve these skills and learn to step out of their comfort place which can be useful once they are going to a new setting as college students. These skills—communication, socialization, teamwork, and more—are very useful once they are sent to college wherein they are there to deal with different kinds of people. For Grade 11 students, they were encouraged to step out of their circle to be able to participate in the group. While for the Grade 12 students, they were encouraged to know how they should deal with people and how they can keep the group as one.
The activities for this year’s Camp included the usual Banner-Making, Cheers & Yells, and Tent Pitching, which each team prepares for beforehand. The teams were put through Team-Building Games, featuring unique games that, like its name describes, builds the core characteristic of teamwork—connection. Starring this year’s main ingredient, corn beef, the students’ creativity were then put to the test during the Cook-Off, allowing for delicious creations such as Corn Beef Meatballs and Corn Beef Pepper Lunch. To end the day with a heart warmer than the harsh winter, the students were brought to the Bonfire, where memories were made, and the connections they made with the people that day were strengthened. On the morning of the second day, the students were finally challenged with Camp’s indispensable activity, the Amazing Race, where each team traveled from station to station—even crawling through mud—to get to the finish line.
Despite the unusually cramped schedule for this school year, SHS Camp ‘24-’25 ended in great success. Our FuGenistas, who were always known for their determination and perseverance, continued to exhibit those same qualities, fighting tooth and nail for every challenge they encountered during this Camp. Nevertheless, they never forgot to work with each other, establishing the important connection when it came to teamwork. Congratulations to our Batch Lagablab and always Ignite, Connect, and Empower!!
