When you get a writer's block:

  • Stop writing. Never force yourself to write or it'll probably get worse. Take a small break from writing and don't feel bad about it.
  • Read for a few days. Read stories, poetry and even quotes. Identify techniques that you admire, jot down words that you liked or even metaphors and similes that caught your eye so that you can come back to them later and use them in your own writing.
  • Create a journal to fill it with quotes, ideas or images that you may think of during the day. We come across many things that inspire us but in the rush of the moment, we tend to overlook them. Creativity exists in the present moment. You can’t find it anywhere else.
