• merggles had actual gills. we had them on our neck and our chest. however, because of Magic Shenanigans, we could breathe out of the water as well.
• the tree was in the ocean near the lighthouse, which was, in turn, near where doc lived. it was warm from the sun and the heat given from the tree of life.
  • when the tree of life started to die, the water slowly got colder. i was numb by the end of the conflict.
  • if we had migrated as planned, we would’ve ended up in the great lakes.
  • we couldn’t be seen by silly creatures for the same reason doc couldn’t see gobo - they had lost their magic.
• i had a lot fancier golden adornments than the ones in canon.
• my weird... hair situation was also Magic Shenanigans. it floated like it was in water all the time, and the little pearls at the end were beads.
• fights commonly broke out between merkey and merple. we made waves whenever it might’ve happened to get them to stop.
• i had feelings for merkey. i don’t know if they were reciprocated or even recognized, but i did make a few moves.
  • one time i kissed him on the cheek out of nowhere and he sat there dazed and blushing for a while.
