base info
- floyd ( i call myself audrey in some respects sometimes; please don't use this for me. )
- he/him only
memories (tw: drug use, self harm, transphobia)
- my appearance mostly matched that of what i looked like in season 2 (the pink part, mostly).
- i was also the shortest in the band. (i think? i don’t remember animal’s height)
- even though i didn’t have the Sunglasses Eyes, i did have sunglasses. i didn’t wear them much. i did have a pair like the spirals my eyes made in the pilot, though.
- i was able to play both guitar and bass. i actually learned guitar first.
- i still had my first guitar. it was a dark brown acoustic, with tan trim and my initials ("A.S." at the time) carved into the body on the back.
- i was born in tennessee. i’m not sure where in tennessee, but i hung out in a field a lot. i left with zoot at probably around 18-20ish? i’m not sure.
- my parents were very... Christian, i guess, and i ended up getting kicked out of my house at 16-17 because of my orientation. (i was afab and i identified as a lesbian.) i lived with zoot and his family for the rest of my time there.
- as i said above, i was afab (and thus a trans man). my birth name was audrey stone!
- i made a lot really cheesy jokes.
- when animal was part of the band, he played a rimshot whenever i told one in his vicinity.
- my sense of humor reflected in my jokes. i laughed at my own quips a lot.
- my laugh was really wheezy.
- my name was legally changed to “floyd pepper” in the 70s sometime. i couldn’t legally transition/get the marker on most things changed in that era, but they couldn’t stop me from changing my name.
- the “sergeant” part of my name was a stage name.
- i chose the “sergeant” stage name because i thought it would make hawks mad.
- i had no legal access to things to allow my transition, but i COULD do it illegally. i somehow managed to get my hands on testosterone and, of course, used it. i also had a binder! i didn’t get it illegally, but i used it improperly.
- i very much forced masculine mannerisms on myself (manspreading and etc; i even changed the pet names i used for janice) in public.
- in more private spaces, or when with people i trusted, i just did whatever was comfortable.
- the mayhem formed a little while after we all met. we traveled in a van before we had the bus, and mostly performed at tiny festivals or in dive bars. drugged-up hippies take whatever vibes they can get, man.
- i had a bad track record of getting injured.
- i had a bad problem with self-injury for a while after i got kicked out. i got out of the habit, but it reared its ugly head sometimes.
- my improper binding managed to get me some sort of rib injury that landed me in the hospital. this probably happened multiple times, because i was not a good listener and also an idiot.
- one of the 45s glued to the top of the bus shattered over my head.
- animal stepped behind me a bit too fast while i was holding his leash. this dislocated my arm/shoulder.
- i stepped directly off of the stage at a gig and messed up my ankle.
- the bus wasn’t in park while i was nearby. i got run over and had to play sitting down for a while. that sucked.
- i was a really light sleeper, but i was able to sleep in any position imaginable.
- my voice and laugh sounded Like That from some combination of these things:
- exhausting vocal training,
- heavy drugs,
- pressure to the respiratory system,
- and because sometimes it just be like that.
- the muppet movie as a story wasn’t completely accurate. no one was chasing kermit down, but they did end up resting near the abandoned church.
- most of our movies were only filmed, in fact. i remember muppets take manhattan being a show. (i do remember going to new york during its filming, though, which was an Absolutely Stellar Experience.)
- we met rizzo in new york, actually. he and the other rats were considered "extras" and he just had the right charisma. i think kermit hired him on the spot
- kermit was the only other member of the crew aside from the band that kept a really strong mental note in his head that i was trans. he kept this in mind because if i passed out on stage he needed to know why.
- sam knew that, too. my sam was a bastard. he knew that floyd wasn’t my “real name,” but he didn’t know my “real name,” so he called me Pepper all the time.
- he also used "it" pronouns for me in most cases.
- in return, i constantly messed with him. this got me pushed down the stairs at one point.
- i have smooched all of the rest of the mayhem at least one (1) time.
- except animal. he’s a dog, man. he gets scritches.
- speaking of the band, here’s some memories of them!
- janice
- janice was a trans woman! i don’t remember much about how her stuff went compared to mine though
- she lived in an apartment in california that i went to a few times. she had a very pink bedroom, it was very nice.
- i met her at a music festival! i fell at some point and she helped me up. she was the prettiest girl i’d ever seen... we danced until we had to leave afterward, i felt. Blessed
- she gave me her number at the music festival, and i called her a lot via telephone booth.
- she was really into tarot and all that. i remember she read my palm once and i couldn’t pay attention because oh goodness pretty girl touching my hand
- she had... lesbian moms. it was good.
- i loved to flirt with her once i learned how. it was a lot of “stop being nasty” stuff but you know how it is. (she was fine with it)
- zoot
- zoot moved into town when i was 7, just across the street and up a few houses. he moved from pennsylvania!
- he didn’t always wear sunglasses. he mainly started wearing them for style reasons at ~15ish and then realized they actually helped him a lot.
- i gave him his nickname because it was the first thing that came out of my mouth when i tried to describe what sound a saxophone made.
- he had chronic fatigue or some form of narcolepsy. the chronic fatigue was a main factor of his photosensitivity.
- his parents were actually his mom and stepdad. his dad was shitty in a way i don’t feel comfortable putting here.
- we used to hang out in a grassy field nearby, just laying on our backs and looking at the clouds.
- he and his family took me in when i got kicked out. i’m extremely thankful that they had their arms open like they did.
- zoot and i traveled to california in our 20s. it went as any road trip would go, really. you know how it is. we lived out of that car.
- while we were in california, zoot and i got into the whole drug scene, y’know, psychedelics and stuff. but zoot got REALLY into it, and it messed with him a lot. it made his photosensitivty and fatigue worse, and generally made him more distant. i was absolutely TERRIFIED of losing him.
- i had to take care of zoot a lot. made sure he ate and all that.
- the two of us commonly had jam sessions. sometimes i’d play a song he’d sing. him singing always made me happy.
- dr. teeth
- dr. teeth’s name was leon. i’m not sure if his last name was actually teeth, but he did have a phd in something.
- janice actually introduced us to leon.
- he was the first person i ever introduced myself to as floyd. it was kind of an awkward introduction, but he still took my name without question. it made me really happy.
- the doctor and i didn’t know much about each other.
- animal
- I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE ANIMAL CAME FROM. one day he just showed up and we were like “oh okay”
- i had the most control over animal, however little that happened to be.
- when the band got to sleep in beds, he slept at the foot of the bed, curled up.
- lips
- lips was hired in the pit at first. we (mostly zoot and i) saw him playing by himself, thought he was really impressive, and asked him to join the band.
- he said yes really quickly. turns out he’d seen us on tv and loved us!
- he had a really curly hair texture. he let me touch it sometimes it was nice
