memories

• basically, i saw the error of my ways while pink was still in my class; we made up, and with a lot of progress, he ended up in my care instead of his mother's. like legally adopted and everything.
  • i have a really vivid memory of carrying him out of the courthouse. we went out for ice cream, despite the fact that it was kinda cold out? gloomy weather
• my timeline was basically the same up to that point, sorta. my wife passed away before i adopted pink, and i had moved into another house that was just my own.
• pink ended up getting involved in gang activity, and became the leader of a gang they called - yes, i promise - the pink panthers.
• along with pink, there were four other main members:
  • cowboy, who was from the american south (his mother moved to the UK to study something in a sort of midlife crisis)
  • cochise, whose father died in war and believed you could only be a hero if you did so
  • vermin, another scottish kid with shock-red dyed hair and the most feral energy probably ever,
  • and rembrandt, an artisty kid who hung around cowboy. he couldn't have been older than 13.
• the panthers usually hung around at my house, because their homes weren't as stable. they smoked a lot of weed. however, pink had the decency to lay down the law against alcohol. (it was a huge trigger for me.)
  • this didn't stop them from drinking, however. they would usually bring their most drunk members, usually pink, to me to dorm for the night.
• gang warfare was still warfare. it made me nervous. i couldn't stop them, but the least i could do was give them some sort of strategy. i was a math teacher, but i was very interested in history.
• cochise didn't like me. i went to war and didn't die. he knew i was a coward, anyway. so he harassed me. slamming his boots on the table, sneaking in flasks, etc.
  • he killed me, actually! slit my throat after i tried to drive him home. i bled out in the middle of nowhere.
