From my special set of experiences.

  • First off, you have to be ABSOLUTELY SURE you want to marry someone before you do. It's an eternal decision.
  • Before you get married, you need to communicate absolutely everything to that person.
  • And, when you marry someone, you need to be sure to make time with them, to do things alone together.
  • With kids--if you don't want them to ever disappoint you, you need to know them so well that you understand their personalities and motives for doing the things they do.
  • I want to make holidays BIG for my kids.
  • Likewise, I want to teach my kids early on that they need to work.
  • We will have no TV in my house--just movies.
  • I will read to my kids every night; do funny voices and everything.
  • If I want my kids to be strong in the LDS church, I need to be an unfailing example to them.
  • I want my kids to have a treehouse. I want them to play lots of exploring games.
  • I want my family to stay close with my siblings' families. Like, we can have family reunions, et cetera, together.
  • My husband and I need to learn together, walk together, study the scriptures together, et cetera.
  • When I talk to my kids, I will really listen to them, and, during arguments, I won't just blame them. I really will try to consider their point-of-view.
  • I will teach my daughter's self-defense.
