Growing up it was MANDATORY to spend at least a week in Myrtle Beach, as a family vacation. And every year we'd go to the Pavillion. They've now torn it down, which I still find very disturbing and breaks my heart a little. I don't understand why they did it. These are some of my favorite memories of there....
- i always thought i would die on the sleigh ride. it freaked me out that i could see how low the others came when it slung on its side. i always visualized my death on it
- the catapillar is completely boring but necessary ride. also the older you become, the more painful it is, because everyone on the inside of the seat only get pushed towards you, thus squashing you against the side. very painful.
- i never put a piece of gum in the log flume tunnel.
- i was so mad that someone was stupid enough to fall out of the ferris wheel thus ruining the beautiful view of the ocean at night for all of us.
- the corkscrew was the first upside down roller coaster i ever went on
- the galaxy mouse was the first roller coaster i went on and the first i held my hands up on.
- i miss the man with the monkey who would shake your hand when you gave him a quarter
- i still think merry go rounds are a dumb ride
- the calypso is the most painful riding existence known to man. i have yet to meet its equal.
- i hated when i was too old to ride the kiddie rides (like the glitter motorcylces that went in a circle and made that little jump or the boats that when round and round), but sister was still young enough so my parents made me ride with her. o the shame.
- i love that haunted house
- funnel cakes sprinkled with powdered sugar
- taking my nephew on the rainbow thing with the plastic lady on the side for the first time. he loved it
- feeling sick after riding the space ship that goes round and round and lifts you off the ground. i was amused that it flattened my breasts. (i think i was 15 at this point...)
- getting cotton candy on the way out and how perfect the air always felt on my skin.
- as scared as I was to ride the Haunted House when I was little, I remember my mom taking me on it, and I peeped through her fingers and saw the mechanical Gorilla in a red sparkly dress. Odd.
- playing the baseball machine at the arcade, for HOURS.
