Branches in a flat plane.Has butterfly stomata, on underside of tightly appressed leaves. Internodes having ~length=width. Seed cone many parted, rose bud shape.

Branches in a flat plane. Leaves much as T. plicata, but with faint X shaped stomata. Seed cones many parted and basically round.

  • Cupressus cyprus

Branches with radial insertion. Leaves very appressed, scale like, evergreen. Seed cone woody and brown, opening to disperse seeds by wind. Trees monocious.

  • Juniperus juniper

Branches with radial insertion. Leaves scaly in mature foliage, awl like in immature foliage, all appressed. Seed cone "eco-berry" with waxy blue green fleshy texture, animal dispersed. Trees diocious.
