Emerging singly as a hollow stem with embedded silicates. At nodes single whorl of small, bract like leaves. Apical strobilus of sexual structures. Non Branching.
Much as above, but branching, and often a bit thinner.
Not a moss, having a dainty lignified stem with spirally inserted small awl shaped leaves and small root/rootlike structures on the ventral side of that stem. Embedded strobili at squared of apices contain cone like nooks for micro and mega spore production.
