Olive is an English name from the Latin oliva meaning, of course, "olive, olive tree". The olive tree is traditionally considered to be sacred, a symbol of peace and friendship as well as longevity and health.

According to legend, Zeus held a contest between Athena and Posideon to rule over a city where each was given the chance to present the townsfolk with a gift. Posideon went first, striking his trident into a rock and a salty spring poured forth. Athena produced an olive tree, with silvery leaves and an abundance of fruit. The people chose the olive tree and control of the city was given to Athena, thus the city of Athens was born.

I think it's quite a sweet name but olives are also a migraine trigger food for me so…
