Being unpopular can actually have just as many perks and pros as being the most popular girl at school! Some friends have wondered what my fascination is with being LESS popular rather than putting in the effort to be popular, and it got me thinking! The only real con I find to being less popular is that some people will think that it's the mark of whether or not you're likeable, worth their time or even a decent person, and that's not true at all! But hey, you do you and always remember to BE YOURSELF! :)
- Freedom!
- From the majority caring...
- If I'm on a diet.
- If my boyfriend and I have broken up.
- If my outfit and makeup are on fleek 24/7 (this can be big in University, I've found!)
- If I'm even employed tbh.
- If I get perfect grades and do well in sports.
- About my social media followers!
- I'm not big on group-think to start with. I feel like opinions and tastes are very individual, and am not partial to going against my interests and beliefs to get along with everyone else's!
- I'm not big on the social game, either. I really just want to stay home and binge-watch Netflix!
- Less people know anything about my private life! Deep breaths, everyone! :)
- If I'm having a bad day, no one really bothers me about it. (Yay!)
- I never have to pretend I like someone who everyone else likes to keep the peace - if someone gives me bad vibes, I can just say it.
- I don't have to put too much energy into going out unless I want to.
- I don't get into shit for not being at an event or party.
- Everyone I know likes me for me, not what I can offer them with status, money, grades, skills, sports, parties, etc. I rarely need to worry about ulterior motives!
- I also don't need to worry about rumors often.
- I don't have to try new things that I'm not seriously invested in just to associate with certain people.
- Peer pressure isn't a massive issue at all.
- It's easier to develop a thick skin when people bully you, which is a MAJOR asset in life!
- Speaking of bullying, because I don't offer anything grand, I've been bullied a LOT - but that just means that I don't have to put up with pretenses and niceties! Do you realize how beneficial that is? You know what they say: "If they're not nice to the waiter, they're not a nice person!"
- I don't expect handouts.
- QUALITY OF FRIENDSHIPS OVER QUANTITY, ALWAYS. You'd be surprised who will turn your back on you once you don't benefit them...
- Nonconformists are sexy and give zero fucks.
- People have a negative opinion of me because I'm quiet and blunt, and it's nice to know that I'm secretly a very pleasant surprise :)
- I'm great at making good friends. I know what it's like to be alone (I wasn't always unpopular because I wanted to be), so I'm good at making sure others don't feel that way!
- I can entertain myself and don't need people around me to be happy.
- Comparatively little stress, very little pressure to be perfect.
