- you get to hear the person's voice
- far more personal, less static
- sarcasm is easily detected
- no sitting and staring at a screen while waiting for a response
- less time to think about phrasing and vocabulary, you can't begin a sentence then erase it, you've gotta think quicker
- you're both captive audiences, they can't be having a conversation with anyone else
- they're generally more interesting and meander through topics with a smoother flow
- laughing out loud doesn't make you look psycho if you're actually talking to someone
- you get to hear the background noise of whatever they're doing
- you can walk around and talk at the same time
- restating to stress importance: you get to hear their voice, their laugh, the noises they make while they're thinking, all those little personal details that the internet distinctly lacks. emoticons do NOT count.
