- let's get this out of the way - good record collection. full stop.
- laid back and mellow but outgoing and funny, a quirky personality that is balanced in it's juvenile sense of humor and reliable maturity.
- thoughtful, silly, cute. makes me things, buys me little things that remind me of him. buys me god damn flowers despite the cliche because he knows I'm into that.
- reads books. good books. recommends me books. likes to discuss books.
- likes to overanalyze human relationships but not to the point of exasperation.
- into liberal politics. can discuss american foreign policy without resorting to 'bush sucks' or 'americans are idiotic imperialist pigs'.
- someone who doesn't mind the occasional outdoor physical activity. jet-skiing on the Chesapeake, snowboarding, surfing, camping at Lake Tahoe, kayaking with sea otters in Monterey, climbing waterfalls, and occasionally playing competitive sports badly in the park.
- will accompany me to museums and galleries and will actually get something out of it.
- likes architecture and interior design and won't think I'm weird when I rearrange the furniture, draw floor plans for fun, and read real estate magazines.
- not into 'stuff' but into 'cool stuff'. collectors items, antiques, cultural paraphernalia.
- if musically inclined will sit around and play guitar with me or for me. will write stupid songs with me.
- doesn't shut off emotionally when I get a bit crazy and require patience and understanding.
- is financially responsible rather than a fucktard who can't pay phone bills or rent on time and wants me to babysit him.
- doesn't use text as a medium for conversation. calls just to talk, especially if we're apart for long periods of time.
- can spell and has a large vocabulary. uses said vocabulary. thinks word play and learning new words is a good way to spend time.
- understands that I'm not good at being short winded.
- says what he thinks and appreciates that I always say what I do.
- likes my friends. doesn't have shitty annoying friends I have to tolerate.
- the whole 'your' and 'you're' thing isn't even a question.
- not a misogynist, womanizer, fucking prick about females.
- likes that I'm 'butch' in the sense that I'm crass and independent rather than delicate and girly, but likes that I'm a sentimental fool and will only be girly for him.
- loves me unconditionally. that always helps.
