We're a plural collective made of salt since 1994 (body age 29). In a queerplatonic relationship with the Rainies. We live in France.

Accepting of all system types and origins. Very queer.

main = those of us who might be active online || ongoing = things that concern us as a collective (including etiquette pointers) || archive = dormant folks

If you've somehow made it here without knowing what a plural system is, we recommend these resources:

  • morethanone.info is a clear and concise "plurality 101".
  • The Plurality Playbook is a resource meant to "help employees and managers understand dissociative disorders, as well as plurality as a whole". It's workplace-oriented but can also function as a general guide.
  • The Layman's Guide to Multiplicity also contains more in-depth explanations. Even though it's an older resource (last updated 2004) and the terminology is sometimes outdated and we don't agree with everything in there, we really like its debunks of common myths about plurality.

    • What do you go by collectively?

The Salt Institute / Salts.

    • How should people refer to you?

Individually when applicable, as much as possible. Collectively if addressing all of us, talking about us as a whole, or mentioning things we did together as a collective.

    • What terms do you prefer for referring to yourselves as individuals, or as a group?

As individuals: sysmate, sysmember, person, guy, Salt.

As a group: system, collective, guys, family, Salts.

Please don't call any of us: "alters" (medical term we don't identify with); "parts" (of a single person), "pe...

What We Go By As A Collective When We Need A Singletsona , in case you interact with us or talk about us in a setting where we're not out as plural . Please do not out us to anyone without explicit permission.

  • name Abby
  • they/them pronouns
  • queer & polyamorous
    • re: queer: if you're personally uncomfortable with the term that's chill, you do you, we'll respect that. just don't tell us we can't use the word for ourselves
  • brainthings we're all affected by:
    • autistic

Please don't use any of this info for us in plural-safe spaces or in private. They should be used only in contexts where we have to pass as a singlet.

Many of us are fictives . We use the term for two kinds of folks here:

    • people made by the brain based on a fictional character ( brain-generated fictive),
    • or people whose soul got transferred from another universe into this one, where a version of their universe is depicted in a work of fiction ( walk-in fictive).

From all of us fictives, please remember we're people, separate from our fictional character counterparts, and treat us accordingly . In particular, this means:

    • This isn't roleplay. Regardless of your opinions on our identities, we're actual people, with feelings and our own ways of experiencing and relating to the world.
    • Don't assume you know us as people because you're aware of our source = this world's fictional depiction of our life / world / fictional character counterpar...

EXTERNAL ORGANISATION:

  • we used to have a fronting schedule, but that's on hold for now. our frequent fronter team cycles on a weekly-ish basis, with others occasionally popping in and out.

FRONTING:

  • We differentiate between soft switches (passing control back and forth between people who are already fronting; usually at least two people at any given time) and hard switches (someone coming into or leaving front fully)
    • We can soft switch on command, but fronters mostly can't control who gets in and out of front.
    • that said we can usually "call" people to wake up in front if we prepare for it when we go to sleep (which generally gives them a good grip on front for most of the...
