background; i’m a native speaker of vietnamese, fluent in english and conversational in mandarin chinese. my family originated in guangdong, china but the last person to speak cantonese in the family was my grandfather, so it’s always been my goal to learn cantonese to honor him and our roots. korean, japanese & russian just seem fun :)
