• because in Japanese, that's how it would be pronounced
  • most memes are Japanese, and/or based on Japanese anime characters
• because 'meem' sounds stupid
  • it's not spelled that way, if it were, it would be meem
• meme's cuter and catchier, and it doesn't make anyone sound stupid
• that's not even the way the English pronunciation would be
  • if it weren't meh/meh, it would be mee-mee, because there's TWO 'me's
    • AND THE JAPANESE PRONUNCIATION MAKES MORE SENSE
• because it confuses a lot of people when you say 'meem'
