ACEN 2010 Preparations

My second year at ACEN and my very first time ever cosplaying so I am very excited.

  • Cosplaying as: Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service <3
    • Email back with reference pics/screencaps of Kiki and include other necessary information including but not limited to date I need it by (May 1st - so I have time to adjust it if need be), a knee length dress and bow but no shoes, and inquire as to the cost of making the yellow bag ---> Also check black journal for any additional info I may have forgotten/left out
    • OKAY So....... change of plans. The price they were charging was RIDICULOUSLY high so I have now decided to either purchase or make my own dress. So right now I just plan on waiting on the cheap dress I found on ebay which is almost perfectly identical to Kiki's except for that it does not flare out as much at the bottom but whatever I'm skinny so it shouldn't matter. Once I get it if I realize it won't work out I'll just buy the Mccall's pattern I found and the purple satin fabric from Joann's.
    • Look up short black cosplay wigs and decide among them (possibly between the two I already saw?)
    • Decide which place and which type/size (sitting/laying flat, 7inch, 9inch) of a Jiji stuffed animal to get ---> maybe make my own or not have a Jiji at all
    • Find a broom (either use a real broom, make my own, or purchase one that looks more legit ---> or maybe not even take one at all, it might be annoying to carry everywhere if I can't strap it on my back)
    • Check for updates on the convention's policies to see if the broom should be less than 3 or 4 feet long
    • Buy/Order the shoes from Urban Outfitters SOON!!!
    • Make the red transistor radio and the strap to attach it to the top of the broom.
    • Make the yellow/salmon/orange bag.
    • Make the bow out of corduroy and possibly use satin for the headband portion then pin the bow onto the headband.
    • Buy pink blush for my cheeks. Either light pink or deeper pink.
  • Actually do the ACEN Registration soon so as to be able to get my badge in the mail PRIOR to the convention
    • Deadline: APRIL 1st!
    • Order 3-day online
    • Badge name: Kiki or my regular name (just in case the costume does not work out, but hopefully it does work out)
  • Bring more money than last year
    • Definitely bring more singles for the stuff in the Artist Area
  • Will be driving and parking there this year so...figure out how much parking costs there
  • Make a list of food items/beverages to bring
    • When actually going there, either put them in a cooler if need be and leave it in the car or bring it with in our bags
  • PANELS
    • Starting in Mid-April check for the Panel Programming to be released on their website
    • Consult my cousin and decide (and highlite!) which panels we plan on attending
