EXO (엑소)
A nine—previously twelve—member Korean-Chinese boy group under SM Entertainment that simultaneously debuted in two different-language subgroups, EXO-K and EXO-M, in 2012 on April 8. These formerly equal-numbered subgroups were initially created to perform in the two different languages and countries of Korean and Mandarin Chinese in South Korea and China, respectively, and were only meant to collaborate for concerts, award shows, full album releases, and other special album promotion. Unfortunately, after a series of member departures between the years 2014 and 2015, it became increasingly unclear how these subgroups would be able to go on separately, if at all, so the group has been promoting together as one.
