mini review: lovely direct clean cut prose ; miller handles patroclus' first person narration incredibly well after his death ; cried my fucking eyes out near the end ; achilles and patroclus being committed to each other fuck me ; the underlying hinted disapproval of rape cultural is a+ ; the internal conflict of two boys being in love with each other is so well done.
mini review: such an inventive approach on narration and the idea of a personalized death ; fiction set in nazi germany focusing on children always strikes a cord (read: the boy in striped pajamas) ; a novel that makes me hate humans but believe in them all the same ; also cried my fucking eyes out ; i was kinda put off by the narrator's constant foreshadowing gdi.
mini review: fucking love mary renault i wanna marry her i could marry her ; her prose is otherworldly and every sentence makes you want to die ; this book needs an attentive reader who can read situations and understands the wordless human language ; im probably gonna read it again ; the characters are memorable and exceedingly interesting.
