• Connections, connections, connections.
    • I love the way music connects people. Whenever I make a new friend, or meet someone that I could be friends with, we usually end up talking about music, and I'll say "Do you like this band? I'll make you a mix with them on it!" Or whatever. I feel like it's a really good way to tell people about myself. And I take mix making really seriously, haha. I put a lot of thought into what songs will go on it and in what order they'll go in, etc, etc.
  • There is a song for everything. EVERYTHING.
    • There are songs for being happy.
      • "Hummingbird"- Born Ruffians
    • There are songs for being depressed.
      • "The Cold Part"- Modest Mouse
    • There are songs for being sad, but wanting to be comforted.
      • "Lion's Mane"- Iron & Wine
    • There are songs for watching trees and clouds and cars go by from the back seat of a car while on a road trip up to the mountains.
      • "The Golden Age"- Beck
    • There are songs for straight up being a badass!
      • "Down On the Street"- the Stooges
    • There are songs for just having late night fun times.
      • "12:51"- the Strokes
    • There are songs for being annngrryyy.
      • "Electric Shake"- Be Your Own Pet
    • I could go on and on and on, really.
  • Another thing I love about music is how there is SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM AND YOU ARE FREE TO DECIDE WHAT TO LISTEN TO AND YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND SOMETHING THAT YOU LIKE, ADORE, LOVE!
    • If you're ever tired of listening to the same old thing, you can always find a new band to listen to. There are ENDLESS options. And although it may take some time to sift through all the shitty music at the record store, you'll always find something you like. And you're less likely to find as much shitty music if you go to an independent store, like Grimey's in Nashville. Which brings us to our next point...
  • RECORD STORES! The small, independent ones are the best. Better than all the big corporate stores and book stores that sell CDs and all that shit. Go to the small shops that sell vinyl, cassettes, CDs, and used stuff for really really cheap. And most likely, when you go there, you'll either find what you're looking for, or at least someone to talk to that likes cool music too.
  • SHOWS. What's better than seeing a good band play live? Whether it's a big concert, or a small house show, there's nothing better than live music. One thing I love about that is that you have something in common with every single person in the room; you're there for the same reason: to see an awesome band play. Whether you're dancing and thrashing around, or singing along with all the songs, it's one of the greatest things you can experience.
