  • 1 Samuel 15:23
    • ↪ For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.
  • God rejected Saul from being king, and if we aren't careful, God can reject us as well.
  • Saul had a stubborn heart. We have to check ourselves to see that we aren't the same.
  • Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.

WHAT IS REBELLION?

  • The action or the process of resisting authority.
  • Psalm 68:6
    • ↪ God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
  • It's not what we want. It's what God wants.
  • Isaiah 1:19-20
    • ↪ If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land. But if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.
  • Jonah 1:1-3
    • ↪ The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai, “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD.
  • Jonah 3:1-3
    • ↪ Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time, “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.” Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it.
