I'm only 20, and only just starting out on a journey to figure out how to actually earn. Art doesn't come across as a high earning pursuit, but i want to figure out how to bring a lot of different elements together to make a plan.

A very popular, effective method of money making is to spread your income across as many things as possible. You don't want to rely on one single income, preferably you want 3+ ways. The more the better.

A goal i hold is to find a stable art job. Perhaps being a background artist. I want a solid income like this to start really saving on for future projects.

Other art related incomes:

  • Patreon
  • Youtube revenue
  • Online shop sales
  • Amazon affiliate links
  • Courses

I'm an avid fan for all things zero/low waste. And am very proud of anyone who tries to help the environment. From doing something such as refusing a plastic bag, eating less red meat, and doing zero waste imperfectly. There is a very popular quote ''We don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly, we need lots of people doing zero waste imperfectly''.

I have transitioned somethings over to a low waste lifestyle slowly over the course of about a year, as i have slowly gotten into the moment. This includes:

  • Shampoo bar (Lush)
  • Soap bar (Ecotopia)
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Reusable Hot drinks cup
  • Reusable Bags
  • Reusable feminine pad
  • Almost all new clothes are second hand

As you can see the current list is quite ...

Going strictly ethical brands or second hand only will be hard. And it will be hard to resist the lull of going into lots of shops and browsing for hours. But ultimately this is what is best environmentally, and generally better for my purse too!

Things i am excluding: (I am allowed to buy these first hand from wherever)

  • Lingerie/underwear
  • Shoes

Though i would like to not exclude anything, it's tricky to find underwear ethically made thats not too overpriced, and 2nd hand is not entirely an option. Shoes are also quite hard to find second hand that are exactly what i need.

24/10/19 I used up the Asos credit i got from a return and bought a really lovely looking nightwear set. (Kimono and slip). This will be my last first hand purchase...

------*,o'* MEAL PREP IDEAS *'o,*------ (I'm pescaterian who likes the taste of meat and meat textures. I avoid cow's milk and peanuts)

Essentials: Sugar, salt, pepper, normal flour, bread flour, yeast, butter, UHT almond milk, cooking oil, spaghetti, pasta, rice, potatoes, garlic, Cereal.

  • Weekly change the fruit snacks. Always have a choice. Get whatever is cheap/on sale if not using the fruit in a specific recipe.
  • Every other week have a homemade baked good to eat (e.g. Banana muffins, almond buns, bread, cookies)
  • Plan on growing some herbs like basil
  • Maybe make a batch of nicely done Ratatouille vegetables every other week (or when run out) and make 4-6 portions of it, freeze it, and add it to appropriate meals.

Note - On a small scale we can do little, but all of our actions will add up. Generally people create 1-2 tonnes of waste every YEAR. And have a carbon footprint higher than the Paris agreement (which is a minimal level in which we can do to save our earth) If you want to first figure out your own footprint, there are many different tests online, such as the WWF one: https://footprint.wwf.org.uk/#/

All the suggestions below are a direct path to reducing your Ecological Footprint and addressing climate change.
