Why I think Lady Gaga is not over rated:
- She writes her songs herself (albeit with some collaborators, but she has major writing credits for all her songs)
- She has had two hit albums in two years, and has already written her third. Some musicians, (as she has pointed out) write an album for a year, tour for a year, take a break and write another one. She "makes music everyday"
- She isn't just about music. For her, the music, performance, fashion, and related art are all important.
- She is one of the most vocal musicians/people for LGBT rights.
- She can sing, and sing well. For example, when she announced her new album title, she sang a few lines from the title song.
- She has raised the bar of the pop industry, especially for music videos
- She writes songs with meaning. Each song on The Fame Monster deals with a different "Monster" she has encountered, and indeed this whole album tells a story, as it is the flip side to The Fame
- She isn't in it for the money. She spends all her money on her shows and her fashion.
- Her tour is fucking amazing. And it has a loose kind of story. And amazing props, dancers, sets, music, and costumes.
Some of her achievements:
- Most watched video on Youtube (Bad Romance)
- Bad Romance also won Video of the Year at the MTV VMA awards
- Over 1 BILLION views to her Youtube Channel (All Videos combined)
- Her Monsterball World Tour will have been going on for THREE YEARS continuously. She re-designed the whole tour for the release of TFM within a couple of weeks of the new show, throwing out the entire set and starting form scratch
- Gaga is the person with the most 'friends' on facebook (who is alive)
- Most followed on Twitter
- Lady Gaga's "The Fame" is the longest-running No. 1 in the history of Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
- The Fame has also spent 100 consecutive weeks on The Billboard charts
