✧⠀ you are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.
✧⠀ you cannot live alone on the fantasies you feed to your mind, eventually you have to touch your life for real, assess and analyze your habits, understand your character, try not to hate yourself for your character as it was shaped when you were very young by circumstances outside of you, and begin learning how to cope with your character, how to build habits that work for you, finish small projects, finish big projects, expose yourself to more uncomfortable situations, assess why you want to leave that friendship before you leave it, raise your anxiety levels on purpose, so that you can grow, raise your work load on purpose, so that you can grow, so that you can build resilience, so that your life expands, and can be experienced by you in full and in reality.
✧⠀ rigorous, meaningful work is the best medicine against questioning one's place in the world.
✧⠀ you know what I would tell you instead? do something that you can be interested in, with people you like. you don’t have to love it. loving your work can be a lot, and it often means you have to live in your job 24/7. some people can do that. not everyone can, or should. but if you can find work that’s interesting enough that it doesn’t feel tedious, and people you can enjoy spending your 9-5 with, and you can make money, that’s great! it means you can do the things you love for you.
✧⠀ life is so much better when u stop hyperanalysing urself and realise u can’t hate urself into being better u just have to accept ur a lil weird n fucked up slightly but it’s not that deep just live.
✧⠀ imagine if you loved yourself in the same way you loved another person; not caring about the flaws in the body or inside the mind, seeing the virtues even bigger, supporting, taking care. that would be a new level of self-esteem and another way to be indestructible.
✧⠀ i wish everyone would wake up and realize that your idealized self is simply your current self but with drive. the person you want to be is you if you put in the work! like, life is ultimately up to us and we can change ourselves whenever we want! make plans to do better for yourself, speak it into fruition, and work for it.
✧⠀ “technically we’re all, always larping, because the self is only a construct.”⠀“i want a new character.”⠀“then make one.”
✧⠀ sorry to break it to you but you literally have to face your fears and slaughter them. otherwise you will live a small life that you do not want. you litearlly have to view your biggest fears and attack them head on. you have to fall into the abyss to find your way out. the easy path does not exist. there is no get out of jail free card. you have to allow yourself to die a spiritual death over and over again in order to reinvent yourself into the person you are actually supposed to be. and you have to be painfully honest with youself and the people around you. it's horrible but it's truly the only way.
✧⠀ why are you still playing this game? it's not because it's fun. it's not because you enjoy it. it's because it's familiar. it's the same logic you used to lure yourself back towards everything else that hurts you. not because you enjoy being hurt, but because being hurt is all you know. not because it's your friend but because it's been around for a while, and you fall in love with things that stay with you for a long time. you fall in love with things that stay because so many things leave you; so many things come and go from your life, that you start to think that the things that stick around love you. but they don't love you. don't feel obliged to love them back.
