  • My Teams, My Players

The sporting teams and individuals I support and the reason I support them.

Football (Teams)

      • Liverpool: When I was really young my dad read out a list of Premiership teams to try and get me support one. I chose Liverpool because I liked the "oo" sound in the word "pool" as I imagine is the same for all Liverpool supporters.
      • Norwich City: Local team. Boring answer.
      • Borussia Monchengladbach: When picking a German underdog with no knowledge of quality you pick the team with the most complicated name to spell.
      • Tom Tomsk: A love generated from six years of Football Manager success catapulting me into the Hall of Fame. Two-time Champions League winners, four time Russian League winners. What a team.
      • Heerenveen: Thanks to the expert management of one Joshua Benjamin the Dutch minnows became multiple Eredivisie winners and Champions League semi finalists in a matter of years.
      • Serbia: The second national team of choice because when they strike we'll all either be dead or Serbian anyway.

Football (Players)

      • Dennis Bergkamp: Too young to appreciate Cantona, too old not to know Ronaldo was a prick, Bergkamp is my Premiership hero. Henry got the plaudits but The Iceman was always the guy pulling the strings. His goals were never scrappy either.
      • Gianfranco Zola: Because he was a short, skilful, glorious player. Decent bloke too it seems.
      • Steven Gerrard: Liverpool legend. Boring answer.
      • Johan Cruyff: Total football.
      • Darren Huckerby: Ran the show for Norwich in the four years I had a season ticket at Carrow Road.
      • Marco Reus: Took Gladbach to the Champions League. Enough said.

Cricket (Players)

      • Kevin Pietersen: That cocky attitude just makes him so much more fun than a cricket player should be.
      • AB de Villiers: First time I got into cricket outside of an England match was watching AB slog West Indies for 146. He dominated. Ignoring that, his initials are "AB". What a hero.
      • Adam Gilchrist: Funny bastard who had a laugh while he played. Got a lot of respect for walkers as well.

Tennis (Players)

      • Lleyton Hewitt: Bit of a prick but a cocky bastard who never gives up. Plus he made the back to front cap cool again for a short time.

American Football (Teams)

      • Pittsburgh Steelers: I have family in Pittsburgh plus the Steelers is a quality name. Beats Browns anyway.
